Everyone starts at the beginning. In this class, we will cover the basics of stance, grip, sight alignment and picture, trigger press and safety. We will also use the “Smokeless Range” to put these lessons into practice. The standard class length packs in a lot, but it is recommended to add time or book another class later so you have time to fully absorb the content.

These are short, age appropriate, presentations to teach children how to be safe around guns at home, a friend’s house, school, or other places they might find a firearm. This is not a class to teach how to shoot. We teach the know-how for what to do when they might find a gun that has not been secured or around young people who are not safe around guns. There are presentations for Elementary, Middle School and High School age children. This can be added for free to any completed CONDITION ORANGE course. Teach your children how to be safe around guns even when you are not around.

Colorado requires that a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) applicant demonstrate competence with a handgun by taking a class taught by a certified firearms instructor (C.R.S. 18-12-203) and your CONDITION ORANGE certificate will exceed the Colorado state requirements for the ”Handgun Safety Class” (C.R.S. 18-12-202.5). The class not only covers the law, we also talk about legal use of force; guns, gear and ammo; creating a personal protection plan; the physical and psychological effects during a violent encounter; dealing with police after an attack; practicing situational awareness; and so much more. When you are done with this class you will have the basic understanding of how to keep yourself and your loved ones physically, mentally, legally and ethically safe. (As of July 1st, 2025, all Colorado “Handgun Safety Classes” must have live fire in the course) The classroom time and the live-fire range time may need to be booked separately due to both being held in different locations. This may effect the time needed for the class but will not effect the price.

• PreReqs - An open mind and good attitude. All students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate that complies with all Colorado requirements for the CHP application process. Students may bring firearms, holsters, etc. but, please, no live ammunition!

Starting July of 2025, all permits will be good for 5 years with a live-fire requirement. If your current permit is within 6 months of expiring, book your class now so you have your “Handgun Safety Class” covered for the renewal process. Shoot / Don't Shoot training scenarios are used to help individuals, practice making quick and accurate decisions in high-pressure situations where they must determine if using lethal force is justified. CONDITION ORANGE uses scenarios from the SMOKELESS RANGE VST Pro2. These are real life situational training videos which can be made to react to your actions and decisions. This is technology used by law enforcement agencies to help develop critical thinking and decision-making under stress. This training is now available to you. After each scenario, you and the instructor will discuss the decision-making process, identify potential errors, and learn from the experience, ensuring that students understand the legal and ethical implications of using deadly force.
